An "explosive" 45-minute phone call by Donald Trump to Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, during which she defiantly told him that Greenland was "not for sale", which in turn led to a "torrent of aggression" from Trump, has put the Danes in "crisis mode".
A source on the side of the Danes has said: "It was horrendous. Before, it was hard to take it seriously, but I do think it's serious and potentially very dangerous" (ref. 1).
Since that phone call, Trump has openly stated to the press, "I think we're going to have it", and at another occasion he said, "I think Greenland we'll get" (ref. 2).
It is as if Trump is living in another reality.
Otherwise, if Greenland is not for sale, then Trump must mean that he will resort to American military force, and planning at the Pentagon is already underway.
Greenland has about 57000 residents with no standing army, and there is a US military base there with armed American troops. At present, the kingdom of Denmark has the responsibility of protecting Greenland militarily, but alone Denmark's armed forces are no match for America's.
Trump's latest cryptic remark on this subject is that "We might be an enlarged country soon. For years, for decades, we were the same size to the square foot, probably got smaller actually. This could change soon." (ref. 3).
The adverb "soon" is probably freaking out the Danes further.
So, Denmark is now in "crisis mode", and looking at Article 42.7, the Mutual Defence Clause of the European Union.
The top EU military official, Gen. Robert Brieger, has stepped up to say that it would make sense to station troops from EU countries in Greenland (ref. 4), adding "Such a deployment would send a strong signal and contribute to stability". Brieger's remarks were possibly a diplomatic way of telling the Americans to back off.
Two days ago, standing in the EU parliament, right-wing Danish politician Anders Vistisen took an undiplomatic approach.
Right now, Greenland itself is not a part of the EU, but Denmark is, and so as long as Greenland remains within the kingdom of Denmark, technically Greenland should have the protection of the EU.
I doubt the EU can deter the USA from military aggression should Trump choose that path, so if Greenland is not to fall to America and to Satan (think the mark of the beast!), the EU must actually fight back.
The resistance need not go on for very long because at some point in these last days, for sure, America will pick a fight with China, or vice versa. At that time, the US navy will die! This is the prophesied day of the east wind. Some day in the not too distant future, Satan is to lose all power over the sea. This is the will of God.
